Obituary
Gerard W. Ouellette, 75, of McAlester, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Lakewood Christian Church in McAlester with Pastor Paul Vanderveer officiating.
Gerry was born on February 23, 1949 in Woonsocket, Rhode Island to Wilfred and Therese (Montmarquette) Ouellette. After 26 years serving in the U.S. Navy
and retiring with a rank of CWO3, Gerry began the first of three home-based businesses. The first was woodworking creating beautiful cedar chests and hat
boxes. He took great pride that one of his hat boxes was at the Roy Rogers Museum until its closure in 2009. He went back to school to study HVAC and for
several years, repaired and maintained window units. He didn’t have customers, they were friends and often called him for home repairs and advice, often
paying him more than he asked. His last venture was reselling items from Where Ya Bin which he thoroughly enjoyed before he became ill. He raised cattle
and goats and adopted many dogs and cats before we had a shelter. He was happy to spend his retirement raising a daughter, Leighanne, and three
great-grandchildren, Joe, Josh and Ari. He is lovingly remembered and missed.
Survivors include his wife, Isabelle Ouellette; his great-grandchildren, Joe, Josh and Ari; mother, Therese Ouellette; brothers, Maurice Ouellette and Richard
Ouellette; and sister, Denise Berthiaume.
