William D. Crawford, 87, of The Villages, Florida passed
away on April 11, 2026, very comfortably in his home.
William was born August 7,1938 in Fairhope, Pennsylvania to
William D. Crawford, father and Goldie Ruby Ruth Emerick,
mother. He graduated from Hyndman High School and
received a BS in History & Government from Columbia
College in Missouri. He has been married to his beloved wife
Alvina (Cookie) for 54 years.
William’s primary employment was in the United States Navy; he spent 30 years serving
his country. He supported on Naval Ships during the Vietnam War and the Cuban
Crisis. William received numerous metals and awards during his time in the Navy.
William and his wife Cookie are members of Hope Lutheran Church, The Villages. Bill was a
member of the American Legion.
William is preceded in death by his parents, brother Roger Crawford, sister Carol Bowser,
daughter Denice Crawford Gaskill, and grandson David Myer.
William is survived by his wife Cookie Crawford, daughter Diana Hall (Barry), son David
Crawford (Joline), also 5 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Visitation 4/22/2026 will be at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home at 3975 Wedgewood Lane, The
Villages, FL 32162 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Military Service will follow at 1 p.m. at Florida
National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513
In lieu of flowers donations to Alzheimer’s Association, Breakthrough Type 1 Diabetes
(Formerly JDRF), or plant a tree in William’s honor.
