Robert T. Alexander, Lieutenant U. S. Navy Retired, died November 19, 2025, in Virginia Beach, VA at the age of 85. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Hazel Alexander, and sisters, Doris and Helen. Bob was born on October 4, 1940, in Neptune, NJ, and grew up on the Jersey Shore, graduating from Asbury Park High School in 1958. Enlisting in the U.S. Navy in July 1958, Bob was trained as a Nuclear Weapons Technician. After eight years of service, he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer at the age of 25 and two years later; he was selected to become a Naval Officer. After serving 20 years, with part of his service during the Vietnam War, and making numerous deployments around the world, Bob retired to Virginia Beach to spend time with his wife and daughters. Bob then entered his second career, establishing a successful construction business with his wife. After Bob and Carolyn eventually retired, they enjoyed traveling, taking part in community service, especially with Faith Works Coalition, and participating in the Senior Olympics where numerous gold and silver medals were won. Bob was an active member of Thalia United Methodist Church, and a Life member of the USS Forrestall Association, and the Navy Nuclear Weapons Association. Bob is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn; sister Betty; daughters Cindy (Steve) and Terri (Mike); grandchildren, Heather (Eugene), Sara (Joe), Dalton (Joan), Michael (Grace), and Scott (Saranya), numerous nieces and nephews, along with family friend Jody Williams. A viewing will be held on Saturday, November 22nd from 4-6 pm at H. D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Inc., 2002 Laskin Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23454.

The Memorial Service will be held at Thalia United Methodist Church, 4321 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, VA 23452 on Sunday, November 23rd at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Virginia Beach Faith Works Coalition in Bob’s name https://faithworkscoalition.org/FWCNew/
