James Mitchell (Jim) Barr was born in Baxter Springs, Kansas, on September 17, 1926, to James Glenn and Ruth Mitchell Barr. He went to college
at Kansas State College, Pittsburg, KS.

He joined the Navy and served for a total of 20 years. He married Lela Crownover in 1969.

He retired from the Navy with the rank of Senior Chief Gunner’s Mate and lived in San Diego 2 until he passed away at age 97 on August 2, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents parents, wife, Lee, and one sister, Glenna Dell Garber. He is survived by one brother, Donald Lee Barr
of Jasper, AR, one sister, Martha Barr Krispense of Marion, KS, and several nieces, nephews and friends.

His interment will be on September 10 at 2:00 p.m. in Miramar National Cemetery with Military Honors.
