Robert Maxie Wallace
September 16, 1939 — July 24, 2025
Clifton, TX
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Maxie Wallace, 85, of Clifton, Texas, on July 24, 2025. Maxie was born on September 16, 1939, in Clifton, Texas, to Price William and Juanita Faye (Pendleton) Wallace, both of whom preceded him in death.
In December of 1963, while on leave home, Maxie met Montrel Davis “M.D.” Shrader on a blind date. It was love at first sight, and the two were inseparable from that moment on. They married on May 2, 1964, beginning a beautiful life together filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Maxie joined the National Guard in high school, serving from 1956 to 1962. After graduating in 1958, he moved to Lawton, Oklahoma, to work and attend Cameron College. But when he was drafted into the Army in 1962, Maxie made the decision to enlist in the Navy instead—a decision that would take him around the world and shape his future. As a Special Weapons Specialist, Maxie had an expert understanding of weapons systems and earned the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer (E-8).
Maxie and M.D.’s family grew with the arrival of their children—Doyle Wade in 1964 in Las Vegas, Nevada; Dean William in 1968 at the Guam Naval Hospital; and Wanda Dee in 1972 in Charleston, South Carolina. Together, they raised their children with love, the values of hard work, adventure, and kindness. Maxie is survived by his children, Doyle Wallace and widow Lesley; Dean Wallace and Wanda Johnson (spouse Mike); grandchildren, Katherine Wallace, Rachel Newby and husband Charlie, Mary Jenkins and husband Drew (children Jesse, Bristol, and Amy), Jasmine Castenada and husband Alex (children Arabella, Castiel, and Aria), and Austin Wallace (children Marenna and Makoa); his brother, Price “PD” Wallace and late wife Janice of Lake Conroe; his brother Joe and wife Nancy; his little sister Anita and husband Johnny; and many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss him.
A Funeral service to celebrate Maxie’s life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 31, 2025 at Patton Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Lanes Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Clifton Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather and share memories of a man whose adventurous spirit, unwavering love, dedication to family and faith, and lifelong commitment to service will never be forgotten.
