February 3rd is the 70th anniversary of the sinking of the USAT Dorchester,in 1943. 672 lost their lives and the sinking created the legacy of the Four Chaplains. In our Oregon County we are conducting a memorial service remembering this tragedy and the bravery of the Four
Chaplains http://www.fourchaplains.org/...shipmates we must keep these stories alive for the youngster who know nothing at all about them!

This Veterans Day was a special one for me. The Veterans coalition I was president of for three years asked that I preside over a ceremony that restored a deceased Vietnam veteran's name to our county War Memorial. The 90+ year old parents attended and all went well. I hope all my shipmates keep involved in veterans issues...honorable veterans such as the Keepers of the Dragon are become rarier with each passing day and our earned benefits are under attack..God bless you all.

As I reflect on this Veterans Day I now realize in my olden years how blessed I was to have been able to serve with such an honorable Group. We had our ups and downs but we all served honorably for the good of our great Nation. Thanks again for being my Shipmates, God Bless. Dave Nations

Hard to believe I can look at pictures of our weapons much less the whole world! We used to look for any camera's while loading/moving weapons and take any film we found/saw. Times change. My family got a kick out of seeing real nucs, sometimes hard to believe we did what we did. Great site-will inform my "E" mates from the Hancock. Any other Hancock sailors out there? "E" me rosey

I see posting #40 by Javier Aguirre. I was in your "A" school class at NWTGP from 3/77-6/77. I also remember a lot of the names you mention. It has been so many years but I don't regret one day I spent doing what we did.. WT1(AW) Glover retired.

I see that posting #82 was by Scott Helton. I was stationed on the USS John F. Kennedy with a GMT2 Scott Helton from 7/77 thru 6/80. Just curious if it is you. WT1(AW) Glover retired.

To Robert Deering. Three Gmt's from the Lexington came aboard the Ranger in 62 Light, Henderson and Larkin. I became good friends with Light and Henderson. We went to refresher school and then both left the Navy right after that. I would really like to find both of them.

I noted Maurice Gadbois passing. When I was a young 2nd Class on the USS Ticonderoga he was my LPO. Seems many of our shipmates are being transferred to higher command. Here in Oregon we have been busy trying to save our Roseburg VA Hospital. Our group made it all the way to the state legislature and had a resolution passed supporting us...the VA still is not living up to the promises made to us. We need to keep fighting for "blue-water sailors" and the Agent Orange related problems many of us are having. On another subject my book: Brotherhood of Doom: Memoirs of a Navy Nuclear Weaponsman is now on kindle and other elect. devices...not an advertisment just an observation...best to all my shipmates, and thanks to Ray for being an outstanding webmaster..(great guy, he pinned on my chief's anchors in Guam)!
