Navy Nuclear Weapons
Welcome to the Navy Nuclear Weapons Association Guest Book
360 entries.
To Robert Deering. Three Gmt's from the Lexington came aboard the Ranger in 62 Light, Henderson and Larkin. I became good friends with Light and Henderson. We went to refresher school and then both left the Navy right after that. I would really like to find both of them.
I noted Maurice Gadbois passing. When I was a young 2nd Class on the USS Ticonderoga he was my LPO. Seems many of our shipmates are being transferred to higher command. Here in Oregon we have been busy trying to save our Roseburg VA Hospital. Our group made it all the way to the state legislature and had a resolution passed supporting us...the VA still is not living up to the promises made to us. We need to keep fighting for "blue-water sailors" and the Agent Orange related problems many of us are having. On another subject my book: Brotherhood of Doom: Memoirs of a Navy Nuclear Weaponsman is now on kindle and other elect. devices...not an advertisment just an observation...best to all my shipmates, and thanks to Ray for being an outstanding webmaster..(great guy, he pinned on my chief's anchors in Guam)!
I was a GMT3 (formerly NW3) NW Class 43-59 then stationed at Yellowater Fla from fall of 1959 Till fall of 1961, then Transfered to GMU 10 at Pearl Harbor. Would like to hear from anyone I was stationed with. Jim Hollingsworth
Looking for anyone that served on the USS Rown DD782 in 1962
Looking for anyone from W Div aboard CVA16 (Lexington) , That made her last westpac cruise 61-62.
I found this website shortly after my father passed in August 4,2010 (he is buried at Florida National Cemetary) and took some comfort in stories here. Though I don't think he joined your organization(he was disabled) he served his entire 20 year career (1946-65) in W Division on ships and SWUPAC for instance and rose to Senior Chief. I tried to send email through webmaster shortly after his death but failed. Thanks to all of you.

I'm Looking for people I served with at Clarksville Base from late 62 through 64. Specifically anyone who can verify a severe had rash I had in Feb. 63. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas Season.
W. Jones: Aren't we all. I'm currently in Nashua, NH. Lived in Wichita when I worked for Boeing. That was my 1st job after retireing. After my hitch in the Navy I joined the AF and ended up running their school at Lowrey AFB in Denver. It costs me every day because promotions in the AF weren't as good as the Navy.
Yes, that's me. Still here in Coffeyville, old & fat. Check roster for email address.
W. Jones from Class 66: I was in Class 65. Are you from Coffeyville, Kansas by chance. I seem to remember a Jones from there.
enjoy much reading about NWs I was in SWULANT, served on the Ticonderog, Coral Sea and Intrepid if anyone still around let me hear from you
Just want to say hi to fellow weapons techs and instructors.
Thanks to all veterans for your service. I also would like to convey special appreciation to those of you who served with William A. Petry and shared your comments about him. Uncle Bill was my hero. We lost touch when I was a youth, but your words have helped me know him much better.
NW/GMT "A" school class 66, May '61. Recall cutting NW striker patches off dress blues and sewing on Gunner's Mate.
First class of GMTs after the switch from NW. AUW 0403, Whidbey Island NAS from 1961 to 1963. Looking for Galen Hunter, Lee DeYoung and Barry Hingle or anyone else from that time.
William Russel, I was at Clarksville Base from late 62 until end of 64. Always trying to find more of the folks from that time. Stay well and happy.
Hey Dave, Yeah that was quite the drive. But hey, you gotta do what you gotta do. I now live in Central Texas, most likely will die here. Ive been here for 14 years now.

Either Othic or Wester should be familiar names and will stamp the time you were there 🙂

Was one of those 0891 ASROC people that somehow wound up at Building 850 instead of at the Torpedo Shop on the NWS proper. Learned a lot back there, came in handy on NTPI's/NWAI's when I made it back to the destroyer Navy.
Mac you still live in Salt Lake? I couldn't believe the drive you made every weekend.
Just found this site and I see lots of familiar names. Hard to believe that it has been so many years since I was in A school at NWTGP in 1978 then on to the Connie: 78-82 then Yorktown:82-85, then LY Spear 85-86, then Enterprise 86-90, then SWFPAC 90-92, then out and on to Grad School and my new life. Just a holler out at all yall.
For Waikele vets

I came across this group by chance. I never thought I would ever again see some of the weapons I worked on. B-43, B-57, B-61, ASROC, SUBROC, Terrier, Tomahawk. They take me back to Code 24 in Charleston (Bldg 850 in POMFLANT), the REB shop on USS Hunley(AS-31), and USS Dixon(AS-37).WOW! I miss those days to be honest.
